A chicken-focussed restaurant in Sydney’s Hills District has been ordered into liquidation — over what liquidators say is a “small amount”.

Hillbilly’s Crispy Chicken in Baulkham Hills announced last Thursday that it would “be permanently closed until further notice”.

A winding-up order was issued by the Supreme Court of Queensland on September 15, and the restaurant officially went into liquidation on November 2.

Taylor Insolvency has been appointed as liquidator.

There was only a “small amount outstanding”, Joshua Taylor from Taylor Insolvency told 7NEWS.com.au.

The restaurant owners indicated in social media posts that they tried to set up a payment plan to cover the amount owed.

All the restaurant’s assets will now be sold, Taylor said.

Taylor said while the liquidation process was in the early stages, initial information showed the restaurant has no other outstanding debts.

The restaurant’s news was met with an outpouring of support from the restaurant’s customers.

“Anything you need guys just reach out,” one person said. “Everyone is here for you.”

Other commenters said they were “devastated” and “gutted”.

“This will be a real hole in the community,” someone commented on a separate post.

One person labelled the restaurant’s food the “best chicken I’ve ever had”.

“I don’t think there’s better-fried chicken than yours in all of Sydney,” said another.

The owners thanked everyone for the support and “for being so sweet and checking in on us”.

“As soon as we figure out our next steps, we will let you all know,” they said.

“I’m hoping you guys are back soon,” one customer wrote.

“My family and I will thoroughly miss your fried chicken. It’s the best fried chicken in Australia. I look forward to your stronger return.”
