A pedestrian has been rushed to hospital after being hit by a car in Sydney’s west.
The 41-year-old was crossing the road at the intersection of Polding St and Smithfield Rd in Fairfield — not at a designated crossing — about 7.15pm on Thursday when he was struck.
CCTV footage from a nearby home shows the man watching oncoming traffic before walking out into the road.

While he avoided the cars in the lanes closest to him, he is then hit by a car in the far lane.

He suffered serious head injuries and was treated by paramedics at the scene.
He was then rushed to Liverpool Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
The 62-year-old driver of the vehicle was not injured.
He was taken to Fairfield Hospital for mandatory testing.
