A manhunt is underway in Sydney’s lower north shore after a man was shot.

NSW Police confirmed a man believed to be in his 30s had suffered leg injuries after a shooting at an address in Upper Pitt St, Kirribilli.

Emergency services were called to the location about 4.10pm Wednesday, after neighbours heard multiple shots being fired.

“Officers from North Shore Police Area Command attended and located a man with a minor leg wound,” they said.

Police confirmed the man declined medical assistance and advised it was “unclear what caused his injury”.

Shocked residents in an apartment building on Pitt St have told 7NEWS they heard up to six gunshots fired.

Emergency crews and a heavy police presence remain at an apartment block, located just streets away from the Prime Minister’s official Sydney residence of Kirribilli House.

A crime scene was established and an investigation into the incident is underway.

A short distance away in Neutral Bay, a car was found engulfed in flames in an apartment’s basement car park.

A NSW Police spokesperson told 7NEWS.com.au that they are still investigating if the incident and car fire are related.
