A motorcyclist has died in a single-vehicle crash after police said he lost control around a bend in the road at Thornton, 26km northwest of Newcastle, on Saturday morning.
The 26-year-old man was thrown from his Yamaha motorcyle and hit a tree, police said.
NSW Ambulance paramedics responded to Haussman Dr about 12.30am and treated the rider, who died at the scene.
The scene has been forensically examined, and an ongoing investigation aims to determine the circumstances surrounding the crash.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
