The victim of a targeted shooting attack outside a Western Sydney home has been identified as a 29-year-old father.
Mike Papu was repeatedly shot in the chest, face and abdomen when he was ambushed in his car on Niland Cr in Blackett on Wednesday night.
The 29-year-old had just returned home from work when he was targeted, police say.

He is undergoing several surgeries and remains in a serious but stable condition at Westmead Hospital as of Thursday night.
Detectives are waiting for Papu to recover from surgery before speaking with him.
They say he was not known to police and has no criminal history. It is not yet clear why he was targeted.

Commander at Mt Druitt Police Area Command, Superintendent Steve Egginton, said the shooting was an “ambush style attack”.
The 29-year-old had arrived home, but was still in his car when he was shot.
“A number of rounds were fired through the windscreen of the car that impacted with the victim while he was seated in the car,” he told reporters on Thursday.
“It certainly appears (planned).
“It appears to be that the offenders may have had some knowledge of the victim’s movements prior to that.”
Relatives, including children, were in the house at the time of the shooting.
Egginton said it appeared there was only one gunman involved.
It’s believed the assailant fled the scene on foot.
Neighbours told 7NEWS the gunmen ran up a laneway to a carpark and into a getaway car.

Eggington said a “large scale” investigation was underway and detectives are canvassing for CCTV to track the gunman’s movements.
Police had little knowledge of the victim before the incident.

A man was shot in a Campsie car park on Tuesday night, before two burnt out cars were found in nearby suburbs.
Vailena Koloamatangi, 27, was shot in the head and chest in the car park that night before three cars were later found burnt out.
Police have not established any links from the Blackett shooting to any other shootings, but “the investigation is in its infancy”, Eggington said.
“It’s always disappointing to see people behaving in this manner and resorting to the use of firearms in residential areas where there’s children and families around, but needless to say we’ll be relentless in pursuing the offenders,” he said.
Anyone with information in regards to the movements of people around Niland Cr on Wednesday night is urged to come forward.
